Launched in May, the DIVA project (FOPRO: Forest products digital management with a focus on non-wood business) funds the piloting and customization of the Wuudis service for the development of various non-wood product value chains in Galicia, Castilla y León and Extremadura, Spain. In Spain, forest holdings are small, only 1-3 hectares in size, and are typically managed as common village forests. Therefore, the importance of other products from forests such as honey, mushrooms, pine resin, pine nuts, fruits, berries and herbs is emphasized. Likewise, the sustainable use of forests for grazing wild horses or goats, for example. The project is implemented by Wuudis' subsidiary Wuudis Solutions SL.
At the beginning of the project, requirements descriptions are collected from different user groups and process descriptions of value chains are made. This is followed by the launch of six-month pilots of subsidiary forestry experts Jesus Martinezin and Elena Alvarezin guided and supported. During the project, feedback will be collected, on the basis of which the Wuudis service will be built to meet the requirements of a digital tool for both Spanish and international non-wood production.
